The 3rd event of the project "A Better Europe" took place in Tartu, the second largest city of Estonia, from 4th to 6th October 2018. Hosted by the partner organization PEIPSI, the event has been focused on euroscepticism and the future of Europe. During the preparatory phase, the participants had the opportunity to deepen different paper studies and newspaper articles, from different perspectives, on the future of Europe.
The event has been opened by Mrs Jaana Reinek from PEIPSI CTC who presented the activities and valuable work done by its organization at EU level to promote a balanced development in the European borders areas.
After the detailed presentation of the event, the first session has seen the active contribution of Why Europe; Mr Maxime Bineau, with its presentation “The positive populism for the EU” presented the communication campaign of its organization and stimulated a strong and constructive debate about the future of Europe. The discussion continued thanks to the inputs of Mrs Karolina Zbytniewska, journalist of euractiv.com, who presented the key points of the last speech of President Juncker on the State of the Union. The last speech before the election of 2019. Mrs Zbytniewska stimulated a constructive debate with participants on the future of Europe from different point of views (social, economic, defensive).
The second session of the day has been opened by Mr Marek Treufeldt , from the Municipality of Tartu, who presented the European vision of the second largest city of Estonia and debated with the different participants on the role of the Municipalities in the current European context. The session continued with a round table on the Future of Europe managed by Mr Emanuel Garavello from Focus Europe, who involved the participants in a fruitful debate.
